A Glance To Our Services
There are so many things which comes in our mind when we try to update the Magellan GPS device.
First thing that how it will be going to happen, why I need to update the Magellan GPS and many more.
For all these questions we are the one who will be going to answer.
First of all, we need to check that does your Magellan device really needs the map updates or will it resolve the device issues just by updating the software?
How map updates are different from software updates?
As it is clear from the sentence that map updates are used to update the maps on the device and the software updates are used to make those maps compatible to run on the Magellan device.
Most of the Magellan devices comes with lifetime map updates like Roadmate LMT, Maestro LMT, Mivue, Magellan SE4, Triton 2000, eXplorist and many more. Last words in the model number show what it got along with the device, Like LMT refers to lifetime maps and traffic and LM indicates lifetime maps but not traffic.
Apart from maps and traffic there are several other services which are responsible to run your device more smoothly and accurately and phantom alerts premium are one of them, phantom alert premium service does not come along with the device and you have to subscribe for the services separately.
There are so many advantages of activating the phantom alerts which are:
Phantom Alert’s premium will help you to avoid the traffic tickets by alerting you about the speed traps, intersections, which may be dangerous while driving. Speed camera’s, red light camera’s etc.
Phantom Alert’s database is one of the massive databases in the world which is updated time to time to be the most accurate and the verified database. You can create your own point of interests and even share them.
These alerts are so smart that they can notify you when you pass by the location which reported to be the most accidental area through surveys and reports.
Phantom alerts are proved to be the safest and best ticketing alerts.
How to subscribe to the Phantom alerts?
This is very simple, you just need to check for the 13-digit Magellan GPS serial number on the device and the duration of the year you want to activate it for, and just call us or start a chat support session do discuss it further with the support agent. Also, Phantom alerts comes with two variants, basic and premium. You only get alerts for red light camera’s and fixed speed camera’s in Phantom alert’s basics.

Different issues with Magellan GPS devices
There are different issues we face if we don’t update the device time to time and one of the issues is the time on the device and that is because of the GPS week rollover.
What is GPS Week Rollover?
GPS receivers translate date and time into day/month/year/time of day format. The field that contains the week number is a 10-bit binary number. This limits the range of the week number to 0 – 1023 (or 1024 total weeks). GPS week zero began January 6, 1980. The 1024-week counter first rolled over on August 21, 1999. The next time the counter will reach week 1023 and rollover to zero is this month, on April 6, 2019.
How to resolve the rollover issues?
That is very simple, if your device is affected with GPS week rollover then there is a patch that we need to apply on the device just by installing the patch using the SD or Micro SD card, do not apply the patch if your device is not affected by the GPS week rollover.
Magellan device stuck on boot loop.
Boot loop occurs when there is a damage to the hardware or the software of the device happens or any changes made to the software of the device, which accidently alters the file which is responsible for the device to boot. So, when the device tries to start it stuck on the Magellan GPS logo and tries to boot again and again making it non-functional.
This is the time where we need to get the support from the specialized technician who will help you to recover your GPS device by reinstalling the firmware or by using the recovery tool. Please do not try to run the recovery tool if you are not technically sound because it can cause a permanent damage to your device.
