Different issues with Magellan GPS devices
There are different issues we face
if we don’t update the device time to time and one of the issues is the time on
the device and that is because of the GPS week rollover.
What is GPS Week Rollover?
GPS receivers translate date and time into day/month/year/time
of day format. The field that contains the week number is a 10-bit binary
number. This limits the range of the week number to 0 – 1023 (or 1024 total
weeks). GPS week zero began January 6, 1980. The 1024-week counter first rolled
over on August 21, 1999. The next time the counter will reach week 1023 and
rollover to zero is this month, on April 6, 2019.
How to resolve the rollover issues?
That is very simple, if your device is affected with GPS week
rollover then there is a patch that we need to apply on the device just
by installing the patch using the SD or Micro SD card, do not apply the
patch if your device is not affected by the GPS week rollover.
Magellan device stuck on boot loop.
Boot loop
occurs when there is a damage to the hardware or the software of the device
happens or any changes made to the software of the device, which accidently
alters the file which is responsible for the device to boot. So, when the device
tries to start it stuck on the Magellan GPS logo and tries to boot again
and again making it non-functional.
This is the time where we need to get the support from the
specialized technician who will help you to recover your GPS device by
reinstalling the firmware or by using the recovery tool. Please do not
try to run the recovery tool if you are not technically sound because it can
cause a permanent damage to your device.
